I've only been on site since february, and already I have found confirmation of my Grandads initial...to explain I obviously only called him Grandad..but I always knew his initials were AHG Marler...I knew his middle names were the same as my late fathers' but never could figure out the initial A...I had an inkling that it was either Alfred or Arthur, but thanks to Genes Reuniteds link with Ancestory and guessing the year Grandad must have been born, I came across an Arthur HG Marler....(I wasn't able to subscribe to read all the details though)...The following day this was confirmed by the post arrival of my late dads birth certificate which I had applied for before I joined GR. I know it seems only a little thing...but I found it exhilarating and I now also have confirmation of my nans' name who died long before I was born (I'm having a little trouble reading her maiden name though). My adopted mum has also rediscovered her marriage certificate to my dad, and has copy of her parents marriage certificate which shows here grandparents details as well, and she is hoping to send them to me soon, so hopefully I will no longer be feeling like I'm doing this blindfolded. Thanks to everyone who has been trying to help by sending me their emails....I'm very grateful to you:-) |
