Gwendoline Report 1 Jan 2005 23:38

I joined Genesrunited in October this year as my father was that much older than my mother I wondered if he had been married previously. My mother was always very secretive about my father, who had died when I was almost 2 years old. To email a possible contact, I needed to join and I thought for £7.50 for a year that is good value. I emailed a possible contact and within a few days had received an email back from a nephew I knew nothing about. It transpired that my father had been married at least twice the second marriage being bigamous. He had two children by the second marriage, two half brothers I knew nothing about. One, unfortunately, had passed away, but the other I have since met. Photos have been exchanged and the family resemblance is quite remarkable. Never having seen a photo of my father it was a shock to see one, at the click of a mouse, after 53 years. My brother and I were a result of the third relationship my father had. We are going to research further as we have been unable to trace his birth certificate, and also to find out more about his first wife. I am so pleased that I registered as I have gained a brother and found out about my family history, which would have been lost except for your wonderful site. Just to say a big THANK YOU and to encourage others in their search.
