I have been using GR for just over a year now, and can honestly say I have been absolutely amazed at how much information I have been able to collect, I am researching four branches of our family, my husband's Sayers and Roud, and my own Millett and Silverlock. I have contacted several very helpful people, and sorry to say some who have no intention of being helpful, but mostly the generous ones. My husband's family of Roud, Roude or Rowde, I've traced back to the 1500's and even further. The Sayers side has been much more difficult, but I will persevere. Silverlocks, that was another easy ride, once I found the correct person to 'talk' to. Millett's, well, sometimes I think that I must be the sole surviving member, I have not been able to contact anyone out there with information, but once again I won't give up. What has made my task harder is that both my husband and I know very little about either of our families, it would appear both lots of our parents spoke very little about their relations. Of course being in Australia, although having both been born in the UK, has some drawbacks, I can only rely on my computer to bring me information through this great site, Genesreunited, keep up the good work, and the upgrading of the site. Please, please, please, all you family researchers out there, share you knowledge with your nearest and dearest, and hope that they carry on doing so with their future generations. I feel it so important to know where we came from, even if it is a bit murky. Pat Sayers. |
