About 6 years ago I made contact through Genes Reunited with a first cousin once removed, I knew of his situation, but he did'n't know of me. I was able to give details about our family and fill in some missing pieces. We eventually met, and although I was nervous, we got on well. I was so pleased to have met a new relation, and we often e-mailed each other to keep in touch. Then, last year, he was tragically killed in a road accident. Such a terrible shock, and I'll never forget reading the newspaper and being in complete denial that it was him. I thought at first, maybe it was someone with the same name and age, but of course it wasn't. I am so glad I knew him for those few years, and I think that I had answered some questions for him, that had played on his mind for years. Such a tragic ending. |
