My late gran got me interested in family history by telling me we had a famous painter, John Haslem of Derby, as an ancestor. My original investigations went cold as there were Haslams but no Haslems, and I wondered if she was making it up. However thanks to GR and internet resources I have him, my gggg uncle. I now have his books and seen his paintings! I'm happy to share the full (to me, fascinating) story of how his sister met my ggggg with anyone who is interested. Meanwhile, there are always more questions than answers so I would be delighted to hear from anyone who knows of him, the Bagshaws of Marchington or his uncle James Thomason. And thanks to those generous souls who helped me on this journey. |
