I was born in 1943 and adopted out of the family shortly after birth.
I have had a interest in Genealogy for many years and traced my adopted family with the help of Ancestry
.My New Year Resolution this year was to try to find any living decendants of my Mother.
I set about preparing a family tree, the only information I had was my original birth certificate which gave me my original name and my mothers maiden name. I searched the 1901 census no luck. I asked a friend who had access to the 1911 census to check there was the family mother, father, a son and two daughters including my mother. The reason I could not find them on the 1901 census was they had changed their surname, by searching on their Christian names only we found them on the 1901 census.
I then traced the family with the help of Ancestry. I found a match of a distant relative on Genes Reunited and sent a message.
Shortly after I had a response from the Tree owner who turned out to be the son of my mother's sister. .I had a lovely message from him and he did know of my existence and remembers my mother well and even has photo graphs which he will send to me.
I live in Spain and he telephoned me yesterday and he answered lots of my questions. We hope to meet up later this year when I visit the UK.
Thank you Genes Reunited for helping me find my roots in three weeks. I cannot tell you how excited I am that at last I have found my roots!
