Many years have past since my father passed away I was 16yrs old back then when my dad died on Christmas Eve 30yrs ago time passed and i knew something was missing in my life " who was I " my family was never a close family as families go no one had imformation on pass relatives not even my fathers mum & dads first name from my mum as she never met them as they passed away
my dad had
three brothers and two sisters i knew two of brothers names only
no over imformation than that 11yrs ago my step brother told me last surviving relative passed away was Cremated ,passing cousin passed on this to him
bigger hole was growing inside me who was i ?
once i got a computer i Surf net found Genes Reunited
that started me off on my Family tree but first i had to find out who where my Grand parents etc
i got myself a copy of my dads death certificate there it was his parents names why has no one noticed this before
this was my quest the hole in my heart was begining to close now
still i only had males first names no addresses or birth dates , death dates or marriage dates
went to my local village deaths ,births register to see if i could find out how to find more imformation on male side , lady was doing her own family tree research was so helpful to start me off
she took my details sat me down in her office straight onto it she came across great grand parents names marriage certificates , uncles , aunts , death certificates in no time gave me free copies ,
now i had to do some detective work first thing was my dad as i did not realy knew him looked up for his Army records wwii
from 1942 - 1947 when he was inlisted few weeks later got them through post after contacting - M.O.D records London
he never spoke much about this and now i know why
now what to do next have i got any living relatives from my dads side left so i looked at there last known addresses and who witnessed and signed Death certificates this was great clue as it gave persons name and how they where related to dead person ie Daughter , Son and his address at time of death and there address also
next step off i went to last known addresses on Death Certificates
will persons still be there
few brick walls i came across Buildings pulled down
not detered i had one last known address from an Uncle who passed away
off i traveled came to last known address parking car up i asked an elderly man if he knew people i was looking for
he told me that person moved away 4yrs ago but i should ask person who lives there oh well nothing ventured nothing gained
person did not want to divulge any information on them as he knew who i was looking for but asked me for my phone number
2hrs later once i returned home i got a strange phone call from a man named James asking me family questions who i was etc then to my amazement it was my Cousins husband then he put my cousin on phone for first time i was over come by this timing was perfect as her daughter was getting married in few days and i was invited to wedding reception to meet Family members and best thing was i still had a Aunt who was still alive in her 90s who will be there also
words cannot express feeling i have now
but my gratitude goes to people of Genes Reunited and of Course too all who log onto this site and press computer keys
