Nelly Thorn was born in 1901 and George Mann Born 1901, they married in Reading in 1923, George Junior and Jimmy were born in Reading but sometime between then and before my dad Rodney was born in 1933, Nelly left George in Scotland to raise George and Jimmy alone, returning to Reading with Rodney.

Rodney always knew he had brothers, but he was told he had seven brothers, all scottish.

Over the years we have looked into finding them with the brief information we had, George, 1901 and Mann.
Thanks to this site and Anne Littlehales doing a favour for her cousin, Ann search this site and found that I had information she was looking for and sent me an email. However I wasn't a member, and my emails were not being sent through to me.

It was only in March when my mum wanted to share some information to us that i checked this site and joined, I read the email and was stunned, who would know Nellys information and that she moved from Scotland to Reading around 1933/4?
Ann said she was reseaching on behalf of Jimmy Mann, one of dads brothers.

We arranged to speak on the Phone and arranged for dad to speak to Jimmy, it was very emotional, that after 79 years the bothers finally spoke for the first time.
so we took a trip to inverness and met jimmy and his wife Nanette, it was fantastic for all of us.
