After emigrating to australia in 1970. as a 16 yr old I didnt think too much of lost family untill recently , as i got older and lost my own mother, i began to think of what her life was like as a child and the heartache she went through her mother died at only 26 yrs and she was a twin. after that my mother was brought up by her paternal aunt untill her father remarried when she was a few years later ,so i decided to try and find out more about my maternal grandmother, her death, and what happened to her twin sister and did they have family. thanks to genes i have discovered i have a very large family living in birmingham, and if only mum and our family had known we could have had a relationship years ago, my great aunt has now passed away but she went on to have lots of children and lived in birmingham where they remain today, i have not yet met them .but hope to one day , i found out so many unanswered questions about my grandmother , what she loved , what she looked like, what happened when she died so young , i feel i know her now, she is part of me, how she lived where she came from , my mother looked like her twin sister, it was wonderful to see, i recieved a photo of them as young 15 yr olds in a production of babes in the woods, i wish we had found all this out when my mother was still alive , she only missed out by 3 years, but i am eternally gratefull for finding out now ,so i can share this with my own children. |
