Found my school days' pen-pal

Kerry Report 17 Mar 2009 05:57

In 1955 I began a pen-pal friendship with Pauline Kennedy from England - I live in Australia. We both married in the late 60s & as often happens, our lives got busy with families & the letters dwindled off in 1969. In 2008 I felt I needed to find Pauline, so I searched this site, finding her cousin, John. At least I knew then that Pauline was still living. I also located her brothers & sisters on this site. Then, through 192.com I found her marriage - but she had remarried. So, I found one of her 8 siblings on that site, wrote to her, she passed on my letter & 3 weeks ago I had an email from Pauline via her sister-in-law. Today I received an airmail letter containing a photo of Pauline now - I am so very, very pleased I have found her, still living in England, and I am grateful to the 2 sites which helped in my search. We will both celebrate our 64th birthdays in the next couple of weeks, and it will be wonderful to have my childhood friend from the other side of the world thinking of me on my day, as I will be thinking of her on hers. Thankyou, Genes Reunited! Thankyou, John!
