Some years ago I bought a miniature Victorian photograph case at an antique fair. It had photos of a middle-aged gent and a small girl in it. The girl's photo had a name and date and age on the back, along with the photographer's address. It recently occurred to me to see if it tied up with anyone's tree on GR.

I found a name, date and place that corresponded with another member's tree and contacted. her. I have now been able to reunite the photos with the family they belong to, in Australia, which gives me a great feeling!

There must be thousands of old photos out there - can I ask that everyone: A) if they carry names, checks to see if they tie up with anyone's tree, and
B) writes the name on the back of any photos they have - THEY may know who they are, but future generations may not!
