Is it Italian?- the name Burtena

I wish to express my thanks and gratitude to fellow GR member KathrynB(In.Canada) who shortly after I had put a messager out on the trying to find board came online and traced the family with all the variations of the name Burtena back to the 1841 Census.

Thanks to Kathryn I now have the information that confirms that the name is Italian ( my father would have been so pleased, he always talked about his Italian grandmother) but also imformation that will help trace how an Italian family came to be living in this country at the end of the eighteenth/the beginning of the nineteenth century.

It is without a doubt that I owe much of tracing my family history to fellow GR members - keep up the good work.
