Just thought I'd say ... never give up ... because I've kept going back to my "brick wall" and eventually it has paid off.

My family weren't sure where my Great Granddad was born, there were 2 suggestions - Wales and Durham - then I found out he had a possible connection with Yorkshire as well.

I've spent hours searching Ancestry and other Genes members have helped along the way.

Finally I decided to use the National Archives 1911 census search service. Luckily I had certificates to prove that the family lived at the same address in 1909 and 1913.

It cost me £45 - but for me it was worth very penny!

You can get information about the 1911 census and this service on the National Archives website, although it is worth mentioning that you do need the following information for the search:

1) the address (house number, street & town)
2) the county (eg Yorkshire)
3) the civil parish
