I have been researching my family tree (Stott family in Australia) for approx 10yrs and kept hitting a brick wall. All I knew was that a Stott migrated to Australia from Aberdeen in Scotland and that I was a direct descendent. Thanks to genes I have found that the whole family except for one son migrated out here and through hot matches and help from genes researchers I have been able to extend my family knowledge to the extent that I have found out that one of them was the original inventor of the "Stump Jump Plough", double furrow plough and a cultivator.
I have also been able to locate the last living relative in Scotland and have since spoken to him on the phone.
What a great find and great experience that was.
Thanks genes and all of my hot matches and contacts.
