One-Take Temple died today aged 85.

Shirley Temple was a famous child star who started her career aged just 3.

I only recently showed my Grandchildren her singing "On the Good Ship Lollipop" which she sang in the Film "Bright Eyes"-

"High Society", the film that made Mike's song choice "True Love" famous, was a musical remake of the earlier (1940) non-musical film "The Philadelphia Story" starring Katharine Hepburn, Cary Grant and James Stewart.
As much as I love musicals, in my opinion, The Philadelphia Story is the better film!

PACK UP YOUR TROUBLES IN YOUR OLD KIT-BAG..

Written by 2 Welsh Brothers from St Asaph, Denbighshire- George Henry Powell (Lyrics) under the pseudonym of "George Asaf," and Felix Powell (Music).

George became very disturbed that his song was used to march young men to their deaths and became a pacifist.

Felix Powell committed suicide during World War II in 1942, aged 63. Wearing the uniform of the Peacehaven Home Guard, he shot himself in the heart while on guard duty, using his own rifle

They never again achieved the success that this song brought them.
