Still doesn't seem right, somehow. Tried Googling but the only reference to 500,000 was the number of birds at some point.

I also maybe barking up the wrong coeden ( Welsh)..lol
but I think you're right with at it's or as it's for starters, and the eagle is the national bird and symbol of the US,
Could it be 'covers an area of 5000,00 sq kilom'..?
but somehow the height and the sq kiloms don't fit together,
Although officially called the Bald Eagle it is referred to as the American eagle so I think you're on the right track:)

I was thinking the 500,000 S K could be square kilometres..hmm

presume the first A could be America (clue being New World).
I was thinking of A E = American Eagle .... but 500,000?
possibly barking up the wrong sequoia!!!
