Our area has more Asian people than European and the supermarkets tend to have small European sections and larger Asian ones but they are much dearer than the small Asian shops anyway so I seldom buy from there.
A 10kg bag of rice is $3 dearer at the supermarket.

I get quite a lot of English things from I G A

WhackyJackieInOz

WhackyJackieInOz Report 24 Jun 2009 15:34

Well I G A have an Ethnic section with lots of variety. So if you are ever near one it might pay to go in and have a look. Jars and Tins keep which is one good thing

Daphne Report 24 Jun 2009 15:32

We have I.G.A. but there are none near us, they tend to all be in areas where there are a lot of flats or the new cheap development estates in Victoria.
We used to have Franklins that were great but Safeway bought them.
We have Aldi but there stock is not consistent and you have to drive to another shopping centre to get what you need half the time so it's not worth it.

Oh Sandie you don't know what your missing its beautiful and so lean and juicy.

Hubby loves Yellow smoked Haddock I do it for him quite often.
Sometimes I can't get the Haddock but there is one from South Africa that is similar. He likes it poached in Milk. I'm not over fussed with it myself
