This Monument is in Paris France and is Called the Arc De Triomphe. it is at the West End of the Champs Elysses. its Statue/standing is 162 Feet in Height. it is so collosal that Charles Godefroy Flew his Bi Plane through it Commemorating the End of World War One...?

I think that Sandie should be attributed this answer. My guess on the "S" is standing. Godfroy did fly his bi-plane through the Arc...

A long time since we had such a "stumper"!

Sandie I need to confirm that the holder of Masters Certificate 10655 is the son of David Cooke Wheelright of Scotland and Mary Ann Shaw of Liverpool.
The date of birth is a few years out ( I have 1840/41 on other documents) and the name is common.
The entry below is from Lloyds Shipping Register.

WILLIAM COOKE b Liverpool 1838.
Obtained his Masters Cert No 10655 at Liverpool 1868
Master of WESTERN OCEAN Off No 6074 1868/69
Voyages : North America

Daff
I have found a tel number for the R S S..
02920448800, but when I rang the options given only seemed to relate to the registering of different types of boats., fishing, pleasure etc., the only other option was to hold for the operator which I did for 10 mins with no reply.
I didn't know what your question was, but assumed it related to genealogy so was just going to ask for their e.mail addy.
I will try try again both numbers in the morning, perhaps you could give me some idea of your query with them, they are likely to ask me ,as the may have different email addy's for different departments.

Please don't spend money on phone calls Sandie, I just thought if they had an email address it would be listed with their phone number in the directory.I will keep looking for web sites with a "contact us" link.

I am hot on the trail of my elusive Great Grandfather and with the help of a nautical researcher in Scotland ( who's email address I found by accident) I have found him and 2 ships he sailed between Liverpool and various ports in the U.S.A. I just need to confirm the details of his Master's Certificate since his is a common name.
