Thank you all for the responses which have helped tremendously to fill in many of the gaps in the family tree. As regards John's VC it is now in the Lord Ashcroft collection being purchased in 2020. The whereabouts of John's other campaign medals is unknown. Similarly his sword has also been lost over the years.
I have compiled much of the published information regarding John which will be passed on to my family. Ticknall, John's place of birth, is only 12 miles from where I live.
I am still very much an amateur researching the family history.

Nigel and Kathleen's daughter Muriel married Maurice E. Greenberg, according to Ancestry tree.
Don't know where, and their two daughters weren't born in England/Wales.
(Names kept private on the tree, but presumably they were Angela and Janet - see below)

The tree doesn't mention marriages for any of Muriel's siblings.

In the 1960s, Muriel and Maurice are on the London ER with an Angela M Greenberg, and a Janet P Greenberg.

Angela didn't marry.

John was baptised 27 March 1814..father Francis, mother Isabella.,nee Wayte, who died in 1822

Francis then married an ANNE (Ann Garland, widow) on 29 March 1824

John had 4 sisters - Hannah, Isabella, Sarah, Eliza

No age for John when he died…no birth years or birthplaces for the daughters

With a name like Smith, every snippet is vital

I am trying to locate relatives of John Smith who died in India in 1864, of dysentery at Jallandur.
His wife was Mary Ann Styles (née Corrigean). They had four daughters, Isabel, Eliza, Emily and Frances.
