Thank you ArgyllGran

That is very interesting. I will take a closer look at those websites you have given me.

All the best

For what's it's worth -
someone's opinion on an old thread:

" Attentive III was a shore base for the Auxilliary Patrol Drifters. . ."
https://www.greatwarforum.org/topic/135132-hms-attentive-at-zeebrugge/

And another:

"ATTENTIVE 111 was a shore establishment at Dover "
https://www.shipsnostalgia.com/threads/hms-hmt-attentive-iii-1915.14563/

Apparently there was another ship named simply "Attentive" which was part of the Dover Patrol and which did operate at sea.

Log of "Attentive" just for interest - ie NOT "Attentive III":

From Google, there are several mentions of men who were with Attentive III, and they're all Royal Naval Reserve - so presumably not at sea.

Just one as an example:
https://www.astreetnearyou.org/person/365322/Seaman--Mouat

Deaths Jun 1918   (>99%)
Mouat  James  20  Eastry  2a 1287

There's also this woman who was in the WRNS, with Attentive III. WRNS did not go to sea at that time:

My relative's Royal Navy Reserve record shows that he served on Attentive III between July and November 1918. On his record it also says he was spare crew. So would he be more likely to be shore or ship based? I am trying to find out more about what he was doing while he was there. Thanks for helping me. Jane
