I've had a big win with my personal Army Record :-D

I sent off for a copy of them in January this year and they arrived yesterday.

Having heard stories of how long it takes to process applications, compounded by the problems of Covid, I wasn't expecting anything until next year. I also now live in Australia, but spent fourteen years in the Army Reserve in the UK.

I'm not sure why there was a comparatively speedy response; it may have been because I was applying for my own records, or there is something different about Reserve Records, but the relatively swift response surprised me

Do you remember the events that they reveal ?

You may well be right about the relevant time of processing being less for a living person.
We were pleasantly surprised how quickly my father-in-law's records arrived, when we helped him to request them a few years ago.
They provided a memory jog for him to share many tales of his work and travels.

They gave me the dates of my various promotions; I literally worked my way through the Ranks to WO2, and they showed the dates of my various trade examinations and various courses passed.

There was quite a pointed reminder of somethings as copies of the Official Secrets Act that I had signed at various times over the years were also included :-D :-D

Not that there was anything secret about my time in the Medics and I'm sure every person who has served, or is serving, in the Military is required to sign them.

However, as a piece of nostalgia, my records can now go with my father's RAF records for his service in WW2
