H, I have an ancestor, George Edward Wade who, according to Surrey Police enlistment docs, served with the 11th Reg of Foot 1848 to 1859. Although I know George was born in Marylebone London I am wondering if his army enlistment papers of 1848 would show parents/address etc. Who would be best placed to help.
Thanks
Colin Wade

You already have a thread about this man:

https://www.genesreunited.co.uk/boards/board/ancestors/thread/1395058

Please continue on that thread instead of this one, to keep all info in one place - much easier for the helpers.

I know this is a military query, and the other was about the name Fauxcroft, but it will save people looking for him in censuses all over again for context.

I found my grandfathers enlistment papers at the National archives Kew
He joined up in 1890,s and served in the second boar war

As the papers were filed alphabetically his brothers papers were next to his in the box

I actually went to Kew but was many years ago

You could try an online search on the National Archives site
