If you know which Corps or Regiment he was with, you could look up where they were deployed in the years he was with them.

Remember National Service only lasted two years, unless the man re-enlisted

You do not need the service number it does say on it service number OR date of birth as most will not have the service number. It makes it easier to find with the service number.

Thank you so much. I went on the site and saw that the form did say that they needed the service number which I don't have. I may chance it and send it without. My dad died nearly 50 years ago and my Mum died 7 years ago but I really want to know where he served it although I have ideas. Thank you again

Forgot to say if your mother is still alive she can send for the documents and they will be free to her. :-)

Death over 25 yrs ago and anyone can apply for the documents.

Death under 25 yrs ago next of kin or with the permission of next of kin.

Death cert required, you do not need service number if you have date of birth

Does anyone know where you can find information on people who served National Service? I believe it started in 1947 so my Dad, James Connan, would have been the right age. I believe he served it in Kenya and Burma. Chrissie
