Sorry I thought one was military only and at the time that was what I was asking about. When grey ghost found the wills it triggered me to look for a marriage which I thought would go on to find and ancestor. Sorry about the confusion then. As it says in the other thread as well it could be two james Pook. Thanks

Thank you grey ghost. I was told by another person researching Pook that James had served on the two ships but looking at the detail you have put of the will maybe it is another James Pook . I need to go back and check. My James Pook was married to a Susanna Hurrell and the grave that says he was lost at sea is hers. She died in 1795 so of course he could have married again and I had not picked it up. I am now keen to research this bit. Thank you for the information.

I googled James Pook Royal Navy and this was one of the items that came up. It's the will of a James Pook a Seaman on HMS Temeraire. It names his wife Jane of 70 Princess Street, ?Plymouth (watermark in the way) in the County of Devon.

So a different James Pook?

You can download the will for £3.50 but you can preview the images - look carefully and you can decipher most of the images that come up even with the watermark there. It was made in 1805

Are there any records to look at for people " Lost at Sea"
James was born in 1764 in Paignton. He married Susanna Hurrell in 1789.

He was in the Royal Navy and was on the HMS Orion in1798 and the HMS Termeraire in 1804/1805 so was probably serving then at theBattle of Trafalgar.

I can't find his death but fairly sure it was in 1808. His wife Susanna has a grave at Marldon Devon and on the stone it includes James stating died 1808 " Lost at Sea" I was hoping to find more details but have got stuck so any help would be great. Thanks
