The Welsh Fusilliers was my Grandfathers regiment ,and there is no Welsh connection..He was Irish Roman Catholic 1st generation...There has been a book written about them by Grahame Knight,and my Grandfather is there as he was the first man to enlist, from Birmingham Warwickshire as it was back then,and from Grahame I garnered little snippets of information,he knew where my grandfather drank ,some of his colleagues,this was the 1800's,all the information was correct as my father when alive related the majority . I personally have found army records an excellent source of tracking down your relatives.

That’s solved that mystery

If a Regiment was short of members, then the next folk to sign up would probably be sent there - or transferred in from elsewhere. but in this case looks as though the RWF had a London Battalion.

Husbands Grandfather, Sidney John Sales, has turned up a match in this regimet but we are not aware of any welsh connections at all, family from London.
