Ireland was part of UK at the time so it would be a home posting and there was unrest for a number of years in Ireland, either could be a reason for him being there. |

Yes on his marriage certificate for his occupation it said soldier, I have been looking for Mary Adams for 10 years and recently I found it on London marriages on Ancestry think they must have updated them! She is from St Lukes Middlesex and he was from Suffolk, it has my grandfathers signature on the certificate. Then found them in Cork, Ireland was there some kind of conflict why send him there when he could be a military policeman in UK. Just intrigued. Thanks for the other information. He also has a Chelsea Pensioner record for 1901. |

I have found a relative who was in the military police in Cork Ireland, why would they be at these barracks?. My grandfathers sister married Alfred Rust her name was Mary and she died there in 1897 and left a Irish will leaving him some money. No records for 1891 (census) he remarried and they appear on the 1901 census. |
