Help need please. I cannot find the above born 1917 approx. in the military records. This info was taken from his son’s birth certificate in 1945. He is known to have survived the war. Possibly mistranscribed as Hobson? It would be lovely if one of you could find out anything about this person. Thank you. Chrissie |

I would dispute the rank of "Private" you have quoted. His proper rank if he was not an NCO and if he served in the Royal Engineers, would have been "Sapper" aka "Spr". Pity you've no knowledge of units he served with as would make him easier to find. Us Sprs are Ubique. Best of luck with your search |
