The only William Mummery shown as having died, on Ancestry or the CWGC site, in 1916 is
William Mummery
Birth Place: Peckham, Surrey
Residence: Tottenham, Middx.
Death Date: 30 Sep 1916
Death Place: France and Flanders
Enlistment Place: Mill Hill, Middx.
Rank: Private
Regiment: East Surrey Regiment
Battalion: 8th Battalion
Regimental Number: 28370
Type of Casualty: Killed in action
Theatre of War: Western European Theatre

CWGC entry
MUMMERY, WILLIAM
Rank:Private
Service No:28370
Date of Death:30/09/1916
Regiment/Service:East Surrey Regiment 8th Bn.
Panel Reference: Pier and Face 6 B and 6 C.
Memorial:THIEPVAL MEMORIAL

If this is the correct person, and he had been living in Tottenham, that might be the best place to start.

For a donation of £4, you can request an emailed photo of his entry on the Thiepval Memorial

.....
War memorial in Tottenham
https://www.warmemorialsonline.org.uk/memorial/111832
There doesn't seem to be a list of casualties

http://www.iwm.org.uk/memorials/item/memorial/11781 says that no names are recorded.
....

There also seems to be one in Tottenham Cemetery. The discussion suggests that some of the names had originally been added to a plaque (sp) which was in St James Church, Edmonton. The church has now been demolished. According to a now deceased Aunt, my Grt Uncle's name was on it.

75632-tottenham-north-london-wwi-memorial/ (C&P both lines)
....

You could consider contacting the parish church of Tottenham
http://tottenham-summerhillroad.com/index.htm

If he wasn't CoE, you'd need to look for other denominational churches which have survived.

A link was posted earlier for you to request a photo of his listing on the Thiepval memorial. Here it is again
https://www.twgpp.org/photograph/view/114438

He's listed on the Memorial as his remains were never identified. He is either buried as an 'unknown soldier' or, sorry to say, he was blown to pieces and scattered across the battlefield.
