According to some research my grandfather was in the Royal Iniskilling Fusiliers during WW1 and did see some service in Ireland. Why would he have been in an Irish regiment when he was born and brought up in Derbyshire and would he have served anywhere else? I can't seem to find anymore information about him, his name is Ernest Bowler. |

This might be him, but it will cost you £28 to find out for certain. |

Ireland did not have it's independence until after WW1 so technically home soil and a home regiment. There were problems over there so perhaps he was bolstering the regiment to deal with the problems. :-) |

Thank you to both of you for your response, I'm reluctant to spend any more money at the moment so I will try other avenues until the coffers have been refilled. |
