Can anyone help find info re a John Barron born 1899, Inverness, Scotland who appears to have served in WW1 but have no other info. He appears in a family photo wearing an army uniform but no indication of regiment etc. Parents were William and Catherine.

There is only one page in the record and on that it gives his enlistment as at Montreal, Quebec on 2nd Nov 1914; demonilized in England 1/5/1919. It also gives his DOB as 27 June 1984.

It says he was awarded the 1911/15 Star and had served on Active Service.

Could this be your John Barron?

Edit - probably not - his Attestation gives his POB as Bradford, England.

John Baron, 39415, was from Manchester.

There are quite a few medal cards for the name but without further info it is impossible to say which could be his.

If you can find him on the Electoral Roll (Absent Voters List) it might give his Regiment and Service No.

As you may be aware, nearly 70% of WW1 service records were destryed during WW2 bombing. The Medal Cards were stored elsewhere and survived. Unfortunately, with out further info regarding their military service, its difficult to know if they are relevant.
