Thanks for that Gwyn - should have check more carefully rather than relying on the A2/M2/M20 memory ;-)

Glad you sorted him.

Shorncliffe Barracks are on the edge of Folkestone, which used to be covered by Elham registration district.

Thanet is north Kent.

Thank you Chris. That sort of sorts that one out! I'd have him dying in Thanet reg 1931 and assumed he'd continued in the army (Shorncliffe Barracks is in that reg district).
He's too distant a twig to purchase the death cert.

GEORGE O
Last name MOCKFORD
Gender Male
Birth year 1885
Age 46
Death quarter 4
Death year 1931
District THANET
County Kent

The newspaper article certainly sounds like him, occupation, and residence in 1911.

Thank you for your time :-)

Could someone have a look at the image for this please?

British Army WWI Medal Rolls Index Cards, 1914-1920
George O Mockford
Regiment or Corps: Suffolk Regiment
Regimental Number: 9256, 70676, 5820697

The remarks are bugging me.
I'm guessing the IGS is Indian General Service medal with clasp and Malabar but have no idea what the other remark is about.

Thank you
