Thank you all for the fascinating leads. Signed up to Ancestry! His discharge mentions all these regiments. |

The Service Record on Ancestry show him as joining the Royal Munsters with the number 6857 and then later pages show him in the RE. |

As David originally said, all records must relate to the same man. The medal card lists his various regiments. He was assigned a different regimental number each time he was transferred. |

As he was discharged due to wounds, he would probably have been awarded the Silver War Badge - this is the only John Cremin in the RE to have done so: |

Ignore my PM - as a new user, we may have assumed that you were unfamiliar with the site. Obviously you've found your way back :-D |

Thanks. I happened on them simply after a Google search led me to this site. It was uncanny to see others discuss him as we didn't have any such records growing up even though he lived until 1995. He was discharged with gunshot sounds to the head and shoulder indeed so I certainly need to visit that site Findmypast. An auctioneer site in Dublin also showed me what is almost certainly his pawned war medal missing for 45 years so it is a fascinating Remembrance Day. Thanks again for the link |

The name sounds familiar - could there have been a thread posted by someone else? |
