Recently some one found a record for someone who could be my grandfather. The name is Edward ebenezer cracknell and this says he was in the Royal field artillery and his numbers were. 697320 173271. Cab anyone else find any mor information please. Ta in anticipation

You need to be aware that over 70% of WW1 records were destoyed during WW2 bombing. its possible that all that remains are the medal cards

perhaps a long shot but if you know town where he lived try ..........Absent Voters list not every town seems to have one but you might find something useful - worked for me I got an actual address and the fact that a brother I never knew of was also absent from the same address

Well - they were the same Reg numbers as quoted in the OP.
In light of the further information, it looks as if Linda is going to have to start again.

For Royal Artillery try their museum. Be aware that 60 percent of the WW1 records were destroyed in the bombing in September 1940. My contact with Mark Smith the Curator - [email protected] - was extremely helpful although the information available was limited.
