I want to get my brother in laws army records

He served through the war till 6 .Jan .1947 but he then re enlisted in 22 .Jan 1948
till May 1953 when he then was on Army reserve till Jan 1960

I have filled in one form for his war service to 1947

I am filling in a 2nd form for service from 1948 to ?? would year of discharge be
1953 when he left or is it 1960 at the end of Army reserve [ which is headed Certificate of Discharge ]

can anyone help please

I can't say for sure but I would expect it to be 1953 when he was discharged.

Are you sure you need two forms? I thought his service records might all be included together but I'm not sure so stand to be corrected by someone with greater knowledge.

he didn't re enlist in the time allowed for continuous service as far as I know

My father-in-law was in the army in the first world war and the second but his army records were together and we only had to apply once.
