Abbreviations on WW2 service Records

I just received copies of my Father in Laws WW2 service record and need help with abbreviations.

Emb to NWE

Does this mean Embark for North West Europe?

Einbeck appears on one record and I believe that is in Germany. Am I correct?

Allow for 5 hour time difference for replies.

Einbeck is a town in Lower Saxony, in Germany. There is lots about it in Wikipedia, and plenty of entries if you use Google.

Thanks. I checked, looks like a pretty town. Its the NWE that I am wondering about..

If it does mean North West Europe then that helps me.

Yes, I would imagine it's NW Europe

You should be able to ascertain his units, with dates, from his records. War Diaries might be available, to find out where he was serving and what he was involved in
