My grandfather was in the 2 nd Boar War and I saw his actual army record at KEW and was able to get a photocopy of it . His brothers record too which I wasn't aware of but as they were filed alphabetically his was with grandads |

Usually, what I've seen recorded is that he was with such & such a regt, and served in the boer war between these 2 dates. |
