I have tried searching on FMP but no results.

I do know that 6 Royal Horse Artillery were only in existence for about 5 years.

The following information was found online:

"The unit was originally formed in March 1901 as the 6th Brigade Royal Horse Artillery, consisting of B battery in Lucknow, India and C Battery in Mhow, India.
In 1902 it returned to Ipswich, Suffolk, moving to Woolwich in 1902.
In October 1906 it was re-titled 2nd Brigade Royal Horse Artillery"

Have a search on FMP in the British Army Service Records database

I have not been able to find Daniel in any census after 1881 or any other information about him.

I believe that Daniel's son James (and probably his wife Mary) stayed in Ireland, as James enlisted in the Irish army in 1903, at which time he gives his father Daniel as his next of kin with Daniel serving with "E" battery 6 RHA.

James married in 1917 to Rose Violet Turnage, they were living in Shoeburyness, Essex.

I am trying to find any information about my great grandfather Daniel Smith who I believe served with the 6th Royal Horse Artillery.

This is what I know;

Born 7 Sept 1857, Liverpool Father Peter Smith, Mother Ellen (Hellen) Smith

1881 census (Danl Smith) "North Camp" Farnborough Hants. "Gunner, Royal Artillery"

6 Oct 1882 serving with 1st RA in Kilkenny, Ireland. Married Mary Neagle (age 18)

4 Dec 1882 Mary gave birth to son James Smith

1903 Believed to have been serving with "E" Battery 6 RHA, location unknown.

1917 Daniel shown as being Deceased on his son Jame's marriage certificate.
Daniel's occupation shown as RSM 6 RHA

I am looking for any information regarding his military service, family/children and date/place of death.
