I am led to believe that my Great Grandfather David Swinbank was in the army re 194-18 war.
I have found two references one DLI Service number 205011 the other Northumberland Fusiliers Service number 24531.
In 1916 his son Joseph died in the conflict. Any help would be appreciated.

Given the Regiment Joseph was in, I would tend towards the Medal Card with the DLI on.

Hello Potty know all about Joseph it was his father's details I was wanting. It seems that you can find more about the people who died in the conflict than those who survived

True, Dale. Unfortunately the majority of WW1 records were destroyed during WW2.
