Can anyone help me find out my great grandfathers old regiment. All we have is a turn of the century photograph taken in India, but can't make out any distinguishing badges. His name was Edward G Jones born 11/11/1879 in Lambeth London.

Possible for Edward in 1901 in an Army camp - unfortunately there is no mention of the regiment. 1901 was the time of the 2nd Boer War when a lot of men joined the Army - could your photo have been taken in South Africa:

As you don't know what the G stands for, it doesn't look as if you have his birth cert, so where did you get his exact DOB from?

The marriage took place in February, 1907 and Edward's age is given as 28. If he was born in Nov 1879 he would only have been 27 when he married. So, if the day and month are correct, he must have been born in 1878 - there is this possible birth:

I can find an Edward G Jones b 1878/9 Lambeth, on the 1881 census with a father Edward, Chimney Cleaner (father on marriage was a Sweep).
