James. Was in the Leicestershire reg. No. 4867110 and died in 1943 (month unknown) I would like to find out where he was stationed, where he died and where he is buried. Can anyone help please?

Just been to see theWW1 exhibition in Leicester's New walk museum ;they had a great slide show .The Newark houses museum has lots of medals ,letters from soldiers + a reconstruction of a trench ...worth a visit for the atmosphere but they also have info about many indiv soldiers ..worth contacting them.too

Hi Karrie

If you look at his death on the cwgc site & click on cemetery details you'll find that he was probably a prisoner made to work on the railway (made famous in the film "Bridge over the river Kwai"). His widow didn't get probate until after the war so I wonder if they didn't know he died until then?

Of 2 Sunnybank, Cheddon Road, Taunton, probate to Catherine Elizabeth Maddams.

They had married in West Ham in 1934 (Carvell). Really sad when you think she may have been sat at home not knowing about his death until after the war - like many other families I expect.
