My Dad served in WW1 from 1914- 1916 in Merchant Navy 1916 - 1917 in the Army. I have his service cards the Army card shows his service number the Navy one does not show his number . Without his number I am unable to find out which ships he sailed on. He was awarded 3 medals Army Marine and also the Silver medal as he was wounded in the Army .A member of GR has written that WDYTYA have a list of all Silver medal awards giving all their service numbers and I am hoping some kind person can look and see if there is any more information .Details |

I think this may be his merchant navy service record - although I don't think they contain very much information. It is £3.30 to download the record from National Archives: |

Had a PM from Mary thanking me for the info - not sure if she has this, but his christening record (Catholic) is on ancestry so will PM the image. |
