The International Red Cross are due to put WW1 POW records online sometime later this year. I would wait for that, if I were you, as not many other options!

Hi there,

Thank you for that, have googled, and searched some of the other places, with a name like wood, it never proves easy. I have his death certificate that shows he died from the Spanish flu in Belgium, and that he was held prisoner, but would love to know more. Thank you :-D

Firstly have you looked/checked for the Regimental Diaries, they will have a lot of into on who was taken prisoner or killed on a day to day basis. These are kept in one of 3 places

1: National Archives Kew
2: Imperial War Museum
3: Remaining within the Regimental Archives.

And have you just Googled?

Do check all of the above prior to spending a lot of money on a researcher. You can do a lot from home and even if you have to pay some fees for what you find, it will still prove cheaper than paying a researcher.
