Either in 1917 or 1918 when the Pathe film was made. That's where we've got our information from to go on.

Hello Yasmin, on the records where you have ages for the men - in which year would those ages have been applicable?

Contact made with the tree owner who has an Eaglefield listed - I've asked them to read the thread and post if they feel they can assist

Fair enough - didn't want anyone to go haring off in the wrong direction!

You wanted living relatives,

In 1944, Gladys is likely to have married Eric Hanson
There are 5 Hanson/Eaglefield births found on http://www.freebmd.org.uk/cgi/search.pl
Year range 1944-1956

Do you have access to Ancestry? There is a tree on there - tree owner suehanson54 - who seems to have one of the children as the 'home' person. If you aren't a subscriber, you might be able to pick it up on http://www.mundia.com/ca/ and send the owner a message. If its easier for a 3rd party to ask, then just say

If your budget runs to purchasing a DC, this appears to be the references for Eric's death. As Gladys died in 1966, the informant is likely to be a relative, hopefully one of his children.

You could also use the search all members tree facility on this site. Someone may have an interest solely in the Hansons or have included them as 'marry-ins'.

Name: Eric Hanson
Birth Date: 20 Apr 1923
Date of Registration: Mar 1999
Age at Death: 75
Registration district: Basford
Inferred County: Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire
Register Number: E13A
District and Subdistrict: 6853
Entry Number: 282

There are too many people who have the same name as the children to be able to confidently identify them on the ER

Yes, but the military hospital started in the middle/summer of the previous year 1917 and continued through to the next in 1918. in all probability it is the correct person because if he was discharged due to shell shock then he probably ended up at the hospital.

If the film was made in 1918, then the details for the above Pte. Eaglefield might not be correct person. He was pensioned off from the Army on 26 Jun 1917. From your knowledge, would he have still been at the Military Hospital or not? :-S

Hi, no we have nothing, no first names or regiments that's why the research is proving difficult for us at the moment.

The film was possibly made in 1918 when it was as hospital. You can watch it on YouTube by typing in Seale Hayne Military Hospital.

Wow, thankyou for that, it's more than I could've asked for!

First marriage

Name: Thomas W H Eaglefield
Spouse Eliza M Allen
Date of Registration: Oct-Nov-Dec 1918
Registration district: Basford
Inferred County: Nottinghamshire
Volume Number: 7b
Page Number: 453

2 children??

Births Mar 1920 (>99%)
Eaglefield Horace A Allen Basford 7b 544

Births Sep 1923 (>99%)
Eaglefield Gladys E Allen Basford 7b 408

The children aren't listed on any trees on this site - message sent to an Eaglefield tree owner who has Thomas' father on his tree, drawing his attention to this thread

If the above is relevant - his marriage

Name: Thomas W H Eaglefield
Spouse: Lily Jones
Date of Registration: Jul-Aug-Sep 1937
Registration district: Shardlow
Inferred County: Derbyshire
Volume Number: 7b
Page Number: 1679

Not seeing any Eaglefield/Jones births. If it was Lily's second marriage, Jones won't be her maiden name. It would be difficult to find births if that was the case.

Welcome to the boards Yasmin

Do you have any further details about these men? If not their Regiments or first names, perhaps their service numbers?

Yasmin Report 6 Jun 2014 01:21

The Seale-Haynians Alumni Club Committee of the former Seale-Hayne Agricultural College would like to trace the descendants of some of the soldiers named in the Pathé Bros film made at Seale-Hayne on the treatment of shell shock victims /convalescent war neurosis patients. We want to focus on tracing the affect the war had on the lives of ordinary people locally.

We intend to have a commemoration later this year of Seale-Hayne's contribution to the war effort in WW1 as a military hospital for servicemen suffering from hysterical war neurasthenia.

If you are one of the descendants or know someone who is on the following list please do get in touch by direct message or through http://www.seale-hayne.com we'd like to hear from you.
