Have record of him in Malta - Feb 1915, Polygon camp Nr Cairo Sept 1915, Gallipoli 27/9/15 to Jan 1916, Rouen France June 1916, Trace then uncertain until wounded Sept 1916 believed in Battle of Somme.

Hello Brian, over 60% of WW1 records were destroyed during WW2. Those that did survive are available on Ancestry.

The medal Index has two regimental numbers for him:

British Army WWI Medal Rolls Index Cards, 1914-1920 about Edwin V Wright

Name: Edwin V Wright
Regiment or Corps: Royal Fusiliers, Labour Corps
Regimental Number: 2301, 197407

The medals he was entitled to were the Victory, the British and the 15 Star. According to the medal card he entered the theatre of war (2l Balkans) in 25/4/15 and was discharged 14/12/17.

EDIT: What I read as 2l, is more likely to be 2b (very low small loop on the b), ie the Gallipoli/Dardenelles campaign.

There is a silver badge for him under the second regimental number ( Labour Corps):

First name Edwin V.
