Hi, I am trying to find my grandfather (James Brown) WW1 records who was with the Kings Own Yorkshire Light Infantry. I have photos of him showing he was a cook & a victory medal card with his No. 201460.
He was born in Leicester in 1881, but lived with his wife & son (my father) in Wakefield, Yorkshire. One photo is dated 1916 making him about 34/35 when he was with K.O.Y.L.I.
He survived the war & lived with his family until his death in Essex in 1955.
Some time ago I was in contact with Major CMJ Deedes & visited the Doncaster K.O.Y.L.I Museum but neither could help me.
Any suggestions on how to find any info would be appreciated.
Thanks Val

As 70% of the records were lost during WW2 bombing you simply might not find his service or pension records
