William was born 1820 & bapt 1822 in Birmingham, s/o John Sanders Davis & Mary Margaret Rosalie Dubois.
In 1851 he was stationed in Chatham Kent along with his brother George.
He served in China & subsequently I am informed by another researcher that he was possibly in Meerut in 1858.
I know that he was with the 98th regiment of foot.
Can anyone confirm his service in Meerut please as I can´t find any evidence.

Hi wisechild,

Just wondered if you had seen the photograph of his medals on Ancestry?

Yes thank Cynthia. They are attached to my tree & were put online by William´s g great nephew. (At least I think that´s the relationship). Apparently his parents still have the medals for John Sanders Davis & William Davis (William Sanders father & Uncle) as well.
Nice to know they are still in the family, unlike so many medals.
