Trying to find info on my Great Great Granddad, born 1781 in Galway Ireland, on 1861 census in Manchester England it says he was Chelsea Pensioner on his death certificate in the following year, it says Army Pensioner, so i assume he was a career soldier, would love to know his regiment and anymore info on him.

Hi, Iam asking for help again, all my dads brothers served in WW1 and on the St Johns ward Roll of Honour for Deansgate Manchester it says for my uncle Albert " Albert Jennings Lance Corporal RSR, could anyone tell me what RSR means, i know it must be a regiment.

JoonieCloonie

JoonieCloonie Report 31 Mar 2014 20:09

Interesting, Alan -- I simply googled

rsr regiment

and what it gets is Raid Supporting Regiment

http://www.forces-war-records.co.uk/unit-info/209/

but that was in WWII

so I googled

rsr regiment wwi

and the probable answer is Royal Sussex Regiment
