	Welcome to the boards Don. WW1 records will be on the National Archive, with links to Ancestry. If you'd care to give a some details - name, place and year of birth - then people with a sub to Ancestry can look for you. Be aware that at 60-70% of records were destroyed in WW2 bombing. If your father served in WW2 then his records would still be with the MOD. You can apply for them at a cost of £30 (free if he or his widow can sign the form) and a wait of many months https://www.gov.uk/requests-for-personal-data-and-service-records
