I don't suppose there's any possibility that your mum confused the Isle of Man with the Isle of Wight?
more googling of the name with 'raf' gave me a reference to Sir George Hutt KCB
and looking him up, I found
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/George_Hutt
'Sir George Hutt KCB (1809–1889) was a British Indian Army officer.'
and looking for him in censuses with wife Adela I found
Name: George Hutt Age: 72 Estimated Birth Year: abt 1809 Relationship to Head: Head Spouse: Adela Hutt
> Where born: Isle of Wight, Hampshire, England Civil Parish: Chelsea County/Island: London Street Address: Royal Hospital Queens Road Chelsea
Occupation: Major General Retired List Secretary Chelsea Hospital
George Hutt 72 Adela Hutt 45 Francis Roder Hutt 15 Adela Walker 12 Beatrice Walker 8 Thomas Harlock 20 Sarah Newman 31 Kate Kirby 17 Sarah Mitchell 20 Edith Parrant 19
There were numerous Hutt events on the Isle of Wight up to 1911, including the death of that George, the birth of a John George in 1894 and the death of a George in 1910.
George KCB had a son George William Hutt c1864 (can't find birth record), away at school in 1881, who in 1901 was in barracks in Essex, married, commissioned officer infantry. Ah, he is the one who died 1910 on the Isle of Wight.
There I lose them ... only two George William Hutt marriages, 1897 Banbury and 1899 Stourbridge, neither seems likely ... perhaps George Hutt 1895 in Chelsea, no luck identifying wife ...
Not George ... but Caroline E Hutt 44 wife living on own means in St Helen in 1901 with children Edith, John George aged 6. He would have been of an age to have a child c1917. Except he doesn't seem to marry but dies 1974 in Berkshire. In 1911 he is at school in Berkshire at United Services College. In 1911 mother Caroline Edith is a widow in Essex with private means. Ah. From Ireland. Married there no doubt. Yes.
George William Hutt + Caroline Edith Townsend https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/FYHS-9N5 https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/FYH9-NM2 (have to match them by registration details)
Some Ancestry trees have less info than this, but the most detailed show what I have found: 1895 birth, 1901 residence and 1974 death.

SUPPLEMENT TO THE LONDON GAZETTE, 14 FEBRUARY, 1916 ROYAL FLYING CORPS 2nd Lieut John George Hutt
There is always the possibility that your George was not born Hutt if his father was at the front in WWI.
John George Hutt was at school in Berkshire in 1911 and died in Berkshire in 1974. George H Hutt/Kinchin was born in Berkshire in 1916, son of George Hutt and Florence Kinchin (there are also twin girls with those surnames born in the same reg dist in the 1920s who both married in Oxford).
Not that there were not enough George Hutts to go around ... As for Florence, there was a Florence Kinchin c1895 domestic servant in Clanfield Oxford in Witney district in 1911 (Florence A in 1901), born in Oxfordshire, her father an estate carpenter ... so birth reg Flora Annie Kinchen 1894. Died 1984 Oxford. Six trees at Mundia show nothing beyond her birth. I sense a possible estrangement.
This is all backwards from the 'right' way to do it, which is starting with what you know and working back :-D
and the likelihood it is connected is slim
but when all else leads to nothing ... when 'Isle of Man' is a dead end, take a side trip to 'Isle of Wight' ... and there are similarities ...

just going on the possibility that George was not killed in action ...
I googled
"george hutt" "raf"
http://www.lakesgc.co.uk/mainwebpages/Gliding%201950-1955/Volume%206%20No%201%20spring%201955.pdf
'Official organ of the British Gliding Association" spring 1955 issue Second Tactical Air Force Gliding Competitions, 1954 "Sgt. George Hutt took his Weihe 172 km. to Recklinghausen (N. Ruhr) and for the last 50 km. had to rely on thermals generated by factory chimneys, never being at more than 500 metres."

I came lately and got my 'thank you' from Carole by PM but it's good to see in the thread that people follow up so I'll answer here and say 'you're very welcome' :-)

The closest match for a George in England/Wales births is
Births Sep 1916 Kinchin George H H (Kinchin) Witney 3a 1988
re-registered when he was 21 as
Births Sep 1937 Hutt George H (Kinchin) Witney 3a 2218 (Berkshire)
His parents weren't married (another war), but he was given Hutt as a middle name and the parents married afterward
Marriages Dec 1917 Hutt George Kinchin Witney 3a 2406a Kinchin Florence Hutt Witney 3a 2406a
since there is no WWI death as Kinchin that doesn't help a lot but it's a possibility for who he was
his age in June 1945, if that is what you are going by, could have equated to a birth year of 1917, if he was born later in the year
However ...
Name: George Henry Hutt Birth Date: 13 Aug 1916 Date of Registration: Aug 1995 Age at Death: 79 Registration District: Peterborough Register Number: C21G District and Subdistrict: 3351C Entry number: 284
We do have to wonder whether your mother was misinformed ... and how tragic that would be if so.
There are George H Hutt marriages in 1944 Hitchin 1943 Oxford 1959 Coventry and pre-war in 1934 in Nuneaton
You might want to get that death certificate to see whether there is any information on it that would give you a contact person for instance.
one other thing to note
A member here has the NZ George in their tree
There are also people with George Hutts born in Brantford and Toronto, Canada, in 1917 and 1918, and there were also many Canadians in the RAF.

He may have come from the Isle of Man, but if you check the Manx bmd site I posted the link to, there seems to have been no record of him being born there; maybe it's worth looking for a George Hutt born in England and Wales around the right time, in freebmd
http://www.freebmd.org.uk/
who may have moved to the Isle of Man later? There didn't seem to be much in the way of records for the name Hutt on the Isle of Man at all.
I don't know the answer as to whether there would have been any record of your mother's enquiry.
Certainly the CWGC has only two records of the death of a G Hutt in WWII
The first was the George Hutt I already posted, the second is for a Geoffrey Hutt. They have no other record of the death of a G. Hutt, though there is always the possibility your mother was misinformed for some reason:
HUTT, GEOFFREY
Rank: Pilot Officer Trade: Flt Engr. Service No: 176159 Date of Death: 18/03/1944 Age: 21 Regiment/Service: Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve 434 (R.C.A.F.) Sqdn Grave Reference Cemetery THORPE ACRE (ALL SAINTS) CHURCHYARD Additional Information: Son of Albert and Beatrice Eleanor Hutt, of Loughborough.
However Geoffrey was born late 1922, so age doesn't fit.

Thank you to all those helping me to find George Hutt.

My George Hutt would have died after June 1945 as I was conceived around that time; my mother was stationed at Market Harborough and was a Batwoman WAAF called Joyce Harris. She went to his base & was told he had been killed. She was discharged from her post. She left me a letter after her recent death confirming his name & that he came from the Isle of Man. Would there be a record of her enquiry and what she was told about his demise?

This one was a flight sergeant but a New Zealander, born c 1916?
Death reported in August 1942:
HUTT, George Allister - Flight Sergeant NZ41914 - Missing on air operations - KILLED IN ACTION Europe aged 26 - Next Of Kin - father, George Arthur Hutt, 155 Otipua Rd, Timaru - mother was: Elizabeth Jane nee CAIRNS
CWGC entry:
HUTT, GEORGE ALISTER
Rank: Flight Sergeant Trade: Pilot Service No: 41914 Date of Death: 29/07/1942 Age: 25 Regiment/Service: Royal New Zealand Air Force 75 (R.A.F.) Sqdn.<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<< Grave Reference 11. E. 6. Cemetery BECKLINGEN WAR CEMETERY Additional Information: Son of George Arthur Hutt and of Elizabeth Jane Hutt (nee Cairns), of Timaru, Canterbury, New Zealand.
It seems many RNZAF personnel did serve in the RAF during the war.
However Bomber Command 75 squadron does not seem to have been based at Market Harborough as far as I can see.
