This one is too young going by the birth year you gave?

Name: George Lough
Estimated Birth Year: abt 1900
Age at Enlistment: 15
Birth Parish: Eastwood
Birth County: Renfrew
Document Year: 1915
Regimental Number: 16578
Regiment Name: Royal Scot??

There is a letter dated 1926 addressed to the officer i/c Records, Royal Air Force, Ruislip Uxbridge, to say that 10598 Pte George Lough Royal Scots Fusiliers discharged 1914 had no entry in the regimental conduct sheet.

it's in response to a request for information on

3 ? 3324 [Ink blot obscures]Lough G N RAF formerly 10598 Pte George Lough

[EDIT - it might be 'George' under the ink blot, and the G N looks more likely to be be G M]

Royal Scots Fusiliers service from 26/3/12 to 26/6/14, regarding his character and particulars on offences recorded on conduct sheets.

Discharged as not likely to become an [illegible] soldier.

The records are very smudged and hard to read.

Enlisting in 1912 he had a fresh complexion, blue eyes and fair hair, and was Presbyterian.

There is a copy of a letter in his files dated 6th June 1911 saying the enlistment of a further 6 boys in excess of establishment for posting to the 2nd battalion for training as drummer boys or musicians had been approved.

His father is given as next of kin, but the page is so dark as to be virtually illegible, it might be William? or something else beginning with W.

He was aged 15 yrs and 309 days when he attested.

I've added details because of the letter from the air force. However if he was 15 when he enlisted in 1912, then surely he was born c1897 rather than c1900?

This record was found in British Army WWI Service Records, 1914-1920
